Wire Sculpture Workshops

Based on the inspiration of a wide range of wire art created by Alexander Calder, and his love of “play”, we will create a small flat wire sculpture constructed in an aluminum circular frame on the theme of animals. After the basic design is completed, the students will embellish their works using mixed media such as cloth, beads or wire screen. In addition to demonstrating the basic techniques used in wire sculpture, we’ll learn a few interesting facts and stories about the artist Alexander Calder, including his special interest in the circus!

COMMUNITY VIEWING OPPORTUNITY: There is a possibility to take all the completed pieces and showcase them as a collection at a public viewing.
